Learn to recognize five major worldviews: biblical theism, evangelical humanism, naturalism, postmodernism, and animism. Each of these five worldviews offer very different answers to life’s big questions, and each answer is represented by an icon which helps you recoginize the ideas—independent of vocabulary.
ICONS: Building Blocks of Worldview is software that introduces the basics of comparative worldview. Asserting biblical principles, ICONS uses 70 easy-to-learn pictures to illustrate the root assumptions behind 5 worldviews. Four introductory slide shows provide an hour-long introduction to the topic of worldview, why it is important, and how the software works.
The main ICONS study interface contains seven layers or research—more source material than can be covered in a 10-week college course. Each CD includes PDF student handouts that you can print for personal or classroom use.
The ICONS system grew out of Food for the Hungry International's training programs among cross-cultural workers, missionaries, and indigenous people groups in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. Now newly updated to a digital format, and released in the USA, ICONS is an excellent tool for live presentation of worldview in the classroom, Sunday school, small group, homeschool, as well as independent study.
