Creation Museum Lightning Incident—Praise Report

We are pleased to confirm that no serious injury resulted from a minor accident today on the zip line course that runs across the property of the Creation Museum. In the course of clearing the gardens, trails, and zip line course because of a looming pop-up storm, a staff member under the employment of the company that operates the zip line attraction was given a jolt by the energy generated by a nearby lightning strike. The electricity traveled down the zip line while the worker was steadying the cable to help a guest off. Although he received a very painful shock, the worker did not seem to be seriously hurt. As a precaution, he was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He was released the same afternoon.1

The safety of our guests and staff is our highest priority, and it is our policy to routinely clear the grounds in inclement weather. This was the case today, and we are thankful no one was seriously injured. For those of you who heard about the incident this afternoon and had prayed for the zip line staff member, we thank you.

Footnotes

  1. The worker told us later that he considered it a miracle that he was not seriously injured or worse, and that the incident has given him a better concept of God’s care and protection.
