Sin—A Big Problem!

on September 30, 2010

The Bible states we all have sinned and our hearts are bad. What can we do?

We have a big problem!

We don’t like people who are different from us. We don’t want to love our neighbor the way Jesus says. We like ourselves the best of all—better than anyone else. This selfishness is a result of sin.

And guess what? Everyone has the same problem . The Bible says we all have sinned and our hearts are bad (see Romans 3:23 and Jeremiah 17:9).

God doesn’t like that sin in our hearts . . . in fact, He hates sin, and He must punish it .

Sin separates us from God.

That’s why we need Jesus! He is God’s Son, but He came to earth, lived as a man, died, was buried, and rose from the dead!

He did these things for us so our sins could be forgiven .

When you believe this about Jesus and trust Him to forgive your sins, He will help you to love all those people you think you just can’t love . Only by loving Jesus first can we really love others the way He wants us to.

The Bible tells us . . .

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness’” (Genesis 1:26).

“Jesus said to Him, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself ’” (Matthew 22:37-39)

“Whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12).

“The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
