This Earth Is Not Our Final Home

on December 22, 2010

Earth is a very special place. We call it home. But it is not our final home.

Child Praying

Earth is where Jesus Christ became a man, lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. He did this to take the punishment for our sins (see John 3:16).

Because of sin, which began with Adam and Eve, we all must die and leave this home we call Earth. We deserve God’s just and eternal punishment because of our sins (see Romans 6:23).

When you turn to Christ in faith by believing and trusting in Him alone to forgive you, God will give you the power to turn away from your sins—from the things you do that are not pleasing to God.

Your heart will be changed. You will be sorry for the sins in your life. And you will be a child of God—saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Then you will be headed for your new home—your eternal home! Jesus Himself is preparing that home for those who believe in Him. That home is going to be much better than this one (see Revelation 21:4).

“In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
—John 14:2–3
