Kids Feedback: I Need Help with a School Report!

I am a 7 year old 2nd grade boy. I have a problem. I have an assignment for school and I need your help. I have to write a paper about crocodiles, alligators, and snakes, giving their viewpoint as they went through all the changes that have happened to earth. I go to a public school and I love Jesus and want to show my teacher and my class how these animals were created by God and any changes they went through were because of events like the flood and not evolution. How can I get my class and my teacher as excited about creation as I am?

It’s wonderful that you are so excited about creation, and want to share what you know with your teacher and fellow students. Someone in your life has been teaching you the truth, and it’s great that you can spot evolutionary falsehoods in the materials presented at school.

Have you thought about telling your teacher about your concerns? Unfortunately, in the public school system it is difficult for teachers to present information about young-earth creation. There are many teachers who actually do not believe in evolution—natural processes that have supposedly turned molecules into man over a very long period of time—but have to teach it in their classrooms. Many times, teachers cannot address the problems with evolution, or talk about creation unless it is brought up by a student first. Maybe you can be that student!

Even if your teacher does not agree with creation, at least you took the opportunity to let others know about your beliefs. Perhaps your teacher will allow you to present your beliefs at the end of your report. This would be another great opportunity to let your teacher and classmates know about creation, and how God created crocodiles, alligators, and snakes.

There are two historical events that changed snakes, alligators, and crocodiles. The first is the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Many animals changed after the Fall, both in diet and physical characteristics. The serpent that tempted Eve apparently changed in form (Genesis 3:14). Snakes started using their fangs and poison to help them survive in a sin-cursed world. These animals became aggressive. Snakes, alligators, and crocodiles began to eat other animals at some point. Originally, they would have only eaten plants.

Animals also changed due to the Flood. Bodie Hodge, a speaker at Answers in Genesis, says the following concerning the impact of the Flood on alligators and crocodiles:

“Two of each of these land animals kinds (not species) were aboard the Ark and this caused a population bottleneck. Alligators and crocodiles are part of the same kind so only two representative ancestors were aboard the ark. Since then, they have had deviations and selection/variation within their various kinds to have some changes, but not changing alligators to cows or anything like that.”

There is much scientific evidence that we can use to support creation. Here are some additional resources on our website that might help you with your report.
