Gazelle

The belly of the gazelle is the perfect color to reflect the heat of the sun’s rays away from the body. The gazelle was also designed with the ability to cool down its body by panting rapidly. The blood is cooled when it passes through the vessels that are in the nasal passages. This cooled blood then goes to the brain. These features were given to the gazelle by its Creator.

Features

  • Grant’s gazelle is one of the largest in the gazelle kind.
  • This gazelle is recognized from other species by the white stripes on its face that are framed in black.

Fun Facts

  • Grant’s gazelles can “pronk.” Pronking is the ability of these animals to leap straight up into the air and land on all four feet at once. It is not known for sure why they pronk, but the action shows great strength and stamina.
  • An hour after being born, a Grant’s gazelle is able to walk.
  • Grant’s gazelles have a life expectancy of approximately 11 years.
