Llama

Design

The llama has a four-chambered stomach, which allows it to chew the cud twice to gain all the nutrition it can from its food. The unique shape of the llama’s red blood cells allows it to dwell in very high altitudes. Some believe the camel to have evolved from the llama; however, these two animals are probably from the same animal kind created on Day 6 of Creation Week.

Features

• The llama is known for its woolly coat, which comes in a variety of brown shades, and may be 3–8 in (7.5–20 cm) in length.
• The llama has a long, graceful neck and a relatively small head with large eyes and ears.

Fun Facts

• Llamas do spit, but only at humans when they are upset. They will spit at other llamas when deciding who gets a meal or who is more dominant.
• They are stubborn animals. They will stop, sit, or lie down if a burden is too heavy for them to carry.
• Female llamas will often hum to their offspring.
