Introduction

Teachers should read the Scripture and text for each lesson prior to teaching it. You should be able to answer the questions below prior to asking them of the student. We have included page numbers from the text where answers are found. Extra understanding can be gained by reading the footnotes for this section (see p. 171-172).

Purpose

The student will be able to understand and relate the true history of Tyrannosaurus rex according to the Bible.

Lesson

Have the student read Scripture out loud. Have student read the text, pp. 24-30.

Questions

1. Describe the true history behind the life and death of the T. rex. (pp. 24-30)
2. T. rex could grow up to 40 feet long and 20 feet high. Research and list some structures or buildings that compare in size to T. rex.
3. Research further the background of the T. rex skeleton, "Sue". Who found the skeleton? When? How? Relate the controversy that surrounded this particular skeleton and tell how it was resolved. (pp. 28-29)
4. What are some popular misconceptions about T. rex's abilities? (pp. 25-27)

Conclusion

T. rex is the favorite dinosaur of many people. Thanks to Hollywood and many books, T. rex is seen as a ferocious, meat-eating dinosaur out to devour anything in its path. In reality, the T. rex was originally designed by God to glorify Himself as part of His ‘very good’ creation. T. rex (and the rest of creation) came under the curse of sin after Adam disobeyed (Romans 8:22) and the T. rex bones we find show evidence of this, thus agreeing with the Biblical record.
