Purpose

The student should understand the history behind dinosaur discoveries and the word dinosaur.

Lesson

Have the student read Scripture out loud. Have student read the text, pp. 53–57.

Questions

  1. What was the diet of all animals (including dinosaurs) and both humans in the very beginning of the Creation? (p. 53)
  2. What changed the entire Creation? (pp. 53, 56)
  3. When did humans and animals begin to eat meat? (p. 56–57)
  4. Research animals with sharp teeth. What is the main diet of each of these creatures?
  5. If an animal has sharp teeth, does this automatically mean it eats meat? (p. 53)
  6. Using a butter knife, regular kitchen knife, steak knife, and bread knife (and any other type of knife available), cut up various fruits and vegetables (e.g., melons, celery, carrots, potatoes, etc.). Which type of knife slices fruits and vegetables better? How much more are sharp teeth appropriate for eating fruits and vegetables?

Conclusion

Although dinosaurs were originally part of God’s “very good” creation and thus were vegetarians, Adam’s disobedience changed all that. Carnivory is the result of the Fall, and had no part in the original creation—neither will it be present in the new heavens and earth to come.
