Founder and current editor of Creation magazine, Dr Carl Wieland is pictured below next to one of the on-screen layouts of the current issue. He says,
‘It’s mind-blowing to look back now to that first, rough edition of June 1978. Produced at home on my electric typewriter, photocopied and crudely edge-stapled, it seemed hard to justify even the 50 copies of the first run (then called Ex Nihilo).
‘However, millions of people were (and still are) being brainwashed daily by glossy popular magazines into believing that evolution/long ages was fact. There was a crying need for a quality layman’s publication presenting the truth of creation, and it had to start somewhere.
‘It took a long time, a lot of hard work by many others, and much prayer to realize the vision to this point. Creation has never been just a magazine, but an outreach tool of a ministry (now the international Answers in Genesis group).
‘Tens of thousands of lives have been changed, with many brought to Christ. Students have told me it was their “Christian lifeline” throughout their studies; parents often tell me how their children devour every word when the “mag” arrives. In fact, I often hear of family members competing to see who gets to read it first.
‘Creation magazine currently has over 36,000 subscribers in 110 countries, with each issue likely to be read by more than four people. That means that hundreds of thousands of people are reached each quarter. If each person shares the information, and encourages others to subscribe, millions more can be reached with this unique tool.
‘If you’re reading someone else’s copy, why not subscribe in your own name? Better yet, make that two subs so that you can keep one and lend the other, or leave it lying around. You would be amazed at the people who will pick it up and read it, who would otherwise be closed to Christian materials. The results have often had eternal consequences.
‘Subscribing also helps other ministry activities, such as research, subsidised outreach, and gifts of creation materials to third world countries, as well as translation projects.
