For two years, several hundred Australian believers—and 65 American Christians—have been preparing for a large-scale evangelistic outreach at the Olympic Games. The American team is made up of members of a group sponsored by GLS out of Schaumburg, Illinois (USA), working in coordination with the Australian office of AiG. They will distribute gospel literature and witness to the millions of international fans and athletes at the Olympics.

GLS has translated, printed, and shipped 500,000 evangelism booklets in 14 languages. Twelve tons of these were shipped to Sydney!

In addition, AiG’s recently produced 64-page book—Answers To The 4 Big Questions—is one of the Bible-upholding materials that is being strategically utilized by this outreach in Sydney. This attractively designed publication, really a cut-down version of our expanded Answers Book, answers four key questions which many people feel are a barrier to belief in the Bible. It also presents the gospel clearly in its own right. Over 20,000 of these publications, printed in Australia, have been donated by AiG. They will be carefully used by these specially trained volunteers in conjunction with their outreach to visitors from all over the world.

The GLS team has also joined the Australian Eternal Gold team that represents Australian pastors, missionaries, and churches. This international partnership has been working for over two years and has attracted Chinese, German, Korean, and Vietnamese churches in Sydney to join this evangelism effort.

The AiG book is being strategically used by the team for those who, on discussion, have genuine problems in the areas it covers, such as evolution, the origin of the races, Cain’s wife, and the evidence for God in general. Stephen Mayo, the Australian coordinator of this effort, wrote telling us that the outreach was “in full swing”. He said, “We cannot express to you how valuable the ‘4 Questions’ books have been already. We are finding that people genuinely question the very issues the book addresses.” (He then gave a detailed example of one such seeker).

Dr. David R. Crandall, international director of GLS, has asked the Christian community around the world to pray for this evangelism ministry in Sydney and for the souls of over 3 million Olympics visitors from 200 countries. Daily updates, including a list of prayer needs during this exciting time, are available on www.glsonline.org.

Please pray for the many thousands of people in Sydney who will be directly approached and challenged by this gospel outreach.
