Q:
Why don’t many of today’s pastors speak with authority?
A: There’s a great verse of Scripture where we’re told that the people were amazed at Jesus’ teaching because he spoke as One having authority, and not as the scribes.
Quotable
quote:
“From a superficial reading, the impression received is that the entire creative process took place in six twenty-four hour days. If this was the true intent of the Hebrew author (a questionable deduction, as will be presently shown), this seems to run counter to modern scientific research, which indicated that the planet Earth was created several billion years ago.”
– Archer, G.L., A Survey of Old Testament Introduction, Moody, Chicago, p. 187, 1985. Archer is a defender of biblical inerrancy, but he allowed himself to be intimidated by “science,” not believing what he admitted was the most obvious interpretation of Genesis 1. |
Jesus is the Word, and he spoke with the authority of the Word. Remember when he was tempted by the devil? Each time he replied “It is written.” When he was asked about marriage in Matthew 19, he said “Have you not read?”
Because we also have the Word of God, we can speak with the same authority. But most Christian leaders have compromised with Genesis, and therefore don’t really have a foundation for their doctrine. They can’t preach with this same authority.
Many pastors have acknowledged that because of the influence of evolutionary ideas, they have been unsure about the truths of God’s Word.
When Christian leaders believe in the Bible from its very first verse, they will preach with power and authority.

Praise and Prayer
Please pray over the following items during the next few days
…
As many of you are aware, National Geographic has issued a cover story in their most recent publication entitled, “Was Darwin Wrong?” AiG speaker and writer Dr. Terry Mortenson has written a response and a rebuttal to their claims. We encourage everyone to read our rebuttal for an objective, biblical alternative. Pray that the web article will be effective, that many will not only come to see the soundness of the creation position, but that they will come to a realization that these issues are as much moral as they are intellectual.
Pray for the museum team as they deal with items critical to exhibits and displays. They are much in need of Divine wisdom and guidance for creativity, vision and clarity as they attempt to embody elements pertaining to aspects of the gospel in each area of the museum walk.
Continue to pray for the nation as issues of freedom of speech continually come under fire. Ask the Lord to give us many more years of liberty to openly proclaim the authority of the Genesis account especially as it relates to morality in marriage.
