Q: Why is it difficult to try to reach the Japanese people with the gospel?

A: Ken Ham shares his experience as he recalls the first time he went to Japan to speak:

Evolutionist Quote of the Week

“The day will come when the evidence constantly accumulating around the evolutionary theory becomes so massively persuasive that even the last and most fundamental Christian warriors will have to lay down their arms and surrender unconditionally. I believe that day will be the end of Christianity.”

– G. Richard Bozarth, The Meaning of Evolution, American Atheist, p. 30, September 20, 1979.

My Japanese translator explained that up until the last war, Christians were persecuted and killed in Japan. He told me that there was no Christian basis whatsoever in society.

He said that when I used the word “God” he couldn’t just translate it as “God.” Because of the Shinto religion, the Japanese would understand this as just another god to add to all their others. The translator would need to define God as the Creator God.

Also, because evolution is taught as fact through Japan’s education system, I’d have to show them this was wrong.

My translator also told me that the Japanese people wouldn’t understand sin—or who Jesus Christ is—so I’d have to explain the basics of Christianity from the beginning, starting with Genesis, so they’d understand the gospel.

Today, people in our once-Christianized nations are more like the Japanese society today—the teaching of evolution has removed the foundation of the gospel from their thinking. They don’t even understand what God we’re talking about.
