Q: Who is the real Jesus?
Dr. Mark Bird answers this week’s question with a personal and powerful Easter message.
A: I have never forgotten the unusual conversation that I once had with a hitchhiker. We had not traveled very long together when I realized my rider was in some kind of a cult. He said that he would “come to power” in about 10 years and would end up being responsible for annihilating thousands, maybe millions of people. He went on and on, both amusing me and perturbing me. Finally, I turned to him and said, “So, who are you, anyway?” He looked me in the eye, paused, then said, “I am he, the 3rd Son of the Father, the Prince of Peace!”
Though this man probably hasn’t gained much of a following, the Bible does predict that in the last days, false Christs and false prophets will come and deceive many. Many people these days are putting their faith in false or imaginary Christs who cannot save them. You might meet two of these false Christs—introduced to you by the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
As part of your Easter celebration, take the time to continue reading The Real Jesus and reflect again on the fundamental nature of our Lord and Savior.
Did you know that Answers in Genesis is on both Facebook and Twitter? The Creation Museum is on Facebook and Twitter as well. (Warning: Facebook and Twitter are both social networking sites with user-contributed content. Children should not visit the sites without parental supervision.)
The next session of our online astronomy course begins soon and registration is open until April 13. “Creation Apologetics and Astronomy” is a six-week course designed to equip you to defend your faith in an evolution-dominated world that is increasingly hostile to Christianity.
Each weekly lesson is designed so that you can work at your own pace, making it ideal for both students and working people. The lessons focus on helping you understand the issues involved in astronomy and how to use the information you learn to share your faith with others. Topics include distant starlight, astronomy in the Bible, problems with the big bang, life on other planets, and more.
As a student, you will be involved in reading articles, watching videos, discussing ideas with classmates and instructors, and applying what you have learned in the assessments. For more information about this learning opportunity, visit Answers Education Online.
