Q: Which Charles are we celebrating?

Charles H. Spurgeon

A: The works of Charles Spurgeon have inspired millions of Christians around the world for over a hundred years. His wisdom and insight into God’s Word and world have helped others discover the richness of Scripture. However, as with any work after a century, Spurgeon’s language can be a barrier for the modern-day world, and this makes his work seemingly less accessible or even “outdated.”

Answers in Genesis and Larry Pierce—who’s behind the Online Bible software, the translation of James Ussher’s The Annals of the World into modern English, and the upcoming translation of Isaac Newton’s works—along with his wife, Marion, want to give Spurgeon’s sermons new life. Thanks to the Electronic Bible Society (EBS) in Texas, Larry was able to update these sermons, not to change the meaning, but to make them more easily understood by modern readers.
