For the last several years, Answers in Genesis has partnered with Tom’s ministry Canyon Ministries to provide biblically based trips through Grand Canyon.

In-depth Geology

This trip travels the 190 miles of Grand Canyon, beginning and ending in Marble Canyon. An excellent way to see the canyon, this 9-day trip gives time for 2 days of additional hiking not given on the 7-day trips.

This trip may include an optional flight from Las Vegas to Marble Canyon at the beginning of the trip (additional $245 fee). On the last morning of the trip, you will be helicoptered out of the canyon and transferred to a flight back to your point of origin.

Throughout the trip, Dr. Snelling will be teaching in-depth geology. Also, Dr. Snelling and Carl Kerby will be leading the devotionals throughout the trip.

About Dr. Andrew Snelling
Dr. Andrew Snelling is a geologist, research scientist, and technical editor. He has a bachelor of science degree in applied geology from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he graduated with first class honors in 1975, and a PhD in geology from the University of Sydney.

In June 2007, Dr. Snelling’s employment began with Answers in Genesis as director of research and editor of the free online Answers Research Journal. He continues, though, to reside in Brisbane, Australia, and commute regularly as necessary to the U.S. His talents have enabled him to be involved in extensive creationist research in Australia, the U.S., Britain, New Zealand, and elsewhere, focusing on radioactive methods for dating rocks and evidence for the global Flood.

About Carl Kerby
Carl Kerby, who is one of AiG’s most dynamic lecturers on the book of Genesis, is a founding board member of AiG (1994). He is also considered the “father” of AiG’s highly popular and acclaimed website, which is now recognized as one of the most-visited religious websites in the world (with up to 94,000 visits/343,000 page views per day!) and which won the prestigious Website of the Year award in 2006 by the 1,400-member National Religious Broadcasters.

Carl’s passion is to proclaim the authority and accuracy of the Bible, and he does so in a highly effective way for all audiences. He is much in demand as a speaker to both young people and adults, with some of his popular talks being available as DVDs, These include: Genesis: Today’s Answer to Racism, What Is the Best Evidence That God Created?, and Genesis: The “Bottom Strip” of the Christian Faith. He is also one of the presenters in the award-winning DVD series for teens called Demolishing Strongholds, which received the 2008 Gold Crown Award for Best Youth Film.

In addition, Carl is the author of Remote Control and is a contributor to the book War of the Worldviews. He is currently writing a semi-autobiographical book of his life (No Holds Barred) as the son of a famous professional wrestler and the unique challenges he faced growing up-and how God delivered him from that strange world to eventually become part of the international apologetics ministry of AiG. A former air traffic controller at Chicago’s busy O’Hare International Airport, Carl’s thrilling testimony has been shared in churches throughout America and many overseas (including Japan, where he has spoken in several churches).

Geology by Day, Astronomy by Night

The trip originates at Las Vegas McCarran Airport at 10:30 a.m. for a scenic flight to the Bar 10 Ranch on the North Rim of Grand Canyon. Horseback riding, horseshoe pitching, skeet shooting, and other activities are available for your fun-filled day. (Optional ATV rides are available for an additional charge.)

In the evening, there is a teaching on creationists’ view of Grand Canyon followed by the Bar 10’s boot-stompin’ country show and an Introduction to the Stars by Jason Lisle. Overnight accommodation options include sleeping in a Conestoga covered wagon, on the beautiful deck under the stars or in the lodge.

The second morning, an exhilarating helicopter ride will whisk you to the canyon floor where the lower 50 miles of Grand Canyon are explored for two and a half days. The geology of the canyon will be explored during the day with astronomy being the subject of the evening programs. Finishing on Lake Mead, the last 40 miles are traveled by jet-boat to meet an air-conditioned motor coach for the return to Las Vegas, arriving by 7:00 p.m.

About Dr. Jason Lisle
Most practicing astronomers and astrophysicists believe in the big bang, a billions-of-years-old universe and other evolutionary ideas. But based on Scripture and the best interpretation of the scientific evidence, they are simply wrong, according to Dr. Jason Lisle, AiG-U.S.’s speaker and researcher.

An astrophysicist with a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Dr. Lisle is now helping AiG (and the creation movement as a whole) refute the evolutionary account of origins—using his strong science background.

Dr. Lisle graduated summa cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University where he double-majored in physics and astronomy, and minored in mathematics. He did graduate work at the University of Colorado where he earned a master’s degree and a PhD in astrophysics. While there, Dr Lisle used the SOHO spacecraft to investigate motions on the surface of the sun as well as solar magnetism and subsurface weather. His thesis was entitled “Probing the Dynamics of Solar Supergranulation and its Interaction with Magnetism.” He has also authored a number of papers in both secular and creation literature.

About Dr. Don DeYoung
Dr. Don DeYoung is chairman of the Department of Physical Science at Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana. He has taught at Grace since 1972, with sabbatical leaves spent in San Diego and the South Pacific. Dr. DeYoung is also on the faculty of the Institute for Creation Research, Dallas. Courses taught include physics, astronomy, and mathematics. He speaks on creation topics and believes that the details of nature are a powerful testimony to the Creator’s care for mankind.

About Dr. Tommy Mitchell
Dr. Tommy Mitchell is the latest dynamic lecturer to be added to AiG–USA’s growing speaking staff. Tommy, a speaker with Answers in Genesis since mid-2005, has spoken to thousands of adults, youth, and children in a variety of settings, clearly communicating reasons to trust the Bible and the Creator Christ who wrote it. He has written articles for AiG’s website and other publications, and he was the featured speaker during Answers in Genesis’s relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, resulting in a Telly award-winning DVD, A God of Suffering?

As a scientist, physician, and father, Dr. Mitchell has a burden to provide solid answers from the Bible to equip people to stand in the face of personal tragedy and popular evolutionary misinformation. Using communication skills developed over many years of medical practice, he is able to connect with people at all educational levels and unveil the truth that can change their lives.
