Bible Verse: Genesis 1:31
There are two illustrations this week, the 'Garden of Eden' and the 'Bones of Eden'; as well as one Bible verse illustration: 'Genesis 1:31.'
This illustration is divided into two parts. The first is a picture of the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, and it reflects the teaching of Genesis 1:31(which teaches us that everything was very good at the end of the Creation week).
Everything must have
included the animals, plants, man, stars, angels, etc. There was no rebellion,
no death, no disease, no bloodshed—everything was very good, as Adam
and Eve are indicating in this particular illustration. The second part
of the illustration is that the layers of bones representing the layers
of the fossil record contain death, disease, bloodshed, suffering, thorns,
etc. these must go underneath the garden if a Christian believes in millions
of years. In other words, this picture is illustrating the fact that if
Christians believe in millions of years of history, then there was already
death, disease, thorns, bloodshed, suffering, violence millions of years
before Adam and Eve, and then God describes all of this as very
good. This of course makes nonsense of God’s declaration in Genesis
1:31.
