A very important point, though, is that the Flood of Noah’s day was a catastrophic event that scoured the entire globe. It would have destroyed the area where the Garden of Eden was originally located. Thus, we would not have any idea where the original location of the Garden was. When one says it was around the area of the present Tigris and Euphrates rivers, this in essence relegates Noah’s Flood to a tranquil or local event that had no catastrophic affect on the Earth’s surface. The thousands of feet of sediment under the present Tigris and Euphrates rivers are most likely the result of the global flood of Noah’s day, 4,500 years ago. The purpose of asking a question about the Garden of Eden is to help people think Biblically and consistently concerning these issues. Many people do not have a truly consistent Biblical worldview, and thus are not thinking in terms of Biblical history to explain the present, but usually work from the present to try to fit it to the Bible.
