The Reason—Part 3
A decorated tree is often part of the celebration of Christmas. But have you ever thought about the fact that there are actually two other trees connected to the real Christmas?Look at the illustration. Jesus’ incarnation has a tree on either side of it. The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil on one side and the Cross on the other. The first tree was the vehicle through which sin and death came into the world, and the other tree was the instrument used in the payment for that sin.
Romans 3:23 says,
'For the wages of sin is death,
but the free gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.'
Let us never forget the connection: Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas. Let us never forget that our sin is the reason Jesus came to this earth.
