God made the moon on day four of creation week about 6,000 years ago. The same God who made the moon and named the stars knows the number of hairs on your head! He loves and cares for you.

  • The moon’s surface is dark. The moon glows because it reflects the light of the sun.
  • Other planets have more than one moon. Jupiter has 92!
  • The moon is gradually moving away from earth at a rate of around 1.5 inches (4 cm) per year.
  • Neil Armstrong was the first human to step foot on the moon in 1969.
  • From earth, we see only one side of the moon.
  • The moon orbits earth as fast as a rifle bullet.
  • The moon has earthquakes, but they are called moonquakes! They last longer than earthquakes but are weaker.
  • The moon orbits the earth in a little more than 27 days.
  • The moon is 400 times smaller than the sun. It just looks the same size because the moon is closer to earth.
  • Although the moon appears round, it’s actually the shape of an egg.
