F-ant-astic Facts

God says we can learn to work hard by watching ants (Proverbs 6:6–8). Check out some other f-ant-astic facts about these small but sensational insects.

• Ants can find the way to their nest even when walking backwards!
• The earth is crawling with up to 15,000 species of ants.
• Some ants help wounded ants back to the colony so that they can continue to work.
• Some ants grow fungus “gardens” for their larvae (babies) to eat.
• Ants live on every continent except Antarctica (pretty funny since “ant” is in the name).
• Some ants use tools to carry liquid to their nests.
• Ants don’t hear like you do. They can “hear” by sensing vibrations.
• The largest ant might have had a wingspan of six inches. (Don’t worry—it’s extinct.)
