Ballymoney Bible Conference Update

Department: AiG-U.K.

Answered Date: 10/30/08

The Ballymoney Bible Convention was very well attended. About 200 attended each of the sessions, except on the Friday, when about twice that number attended. A large proportion of those attending were either from other Free Presbyterian Churches in the province of Northern Ireland or other churches in the Ballymoney area. During the week, we saw at least two people saved. One man came on the Monday and asked a very skeptical question. Paul Taylor chatted with him on two occasions during the week--because he came back every night. On the Friday, instead of asking a question, he stood up to publicly commend Paul's ministry and that of AiG, saying that his eyes had been opened to the truth of God?s Word during the week. In the daytime, Paul was able to go and speak at several schools. On the Tuesday (20th Sept), he had the privilege of addressing the entire sixth form (16 to 17 yr olds) in the high school in Ballymoney. These young people asked difficult and searching questions, but it was a friendly and useful time. Access to schools in England and Wales is becoming less common these days, so it is good that in recent weeks Paul has been able to address school audiences in Northern Ireland and Scotland. On Thursday, Paul was privileged to attend a formal presentation with the Mayor of Ballymoney, Councillor John Finlay. Also in attendance was Councillor Mervyn Storey MLA, the chairman of the education committee of the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly. The Mayor presented Answers in Genesis with a special plaque featuring the Ballymoney coat of arms. Paul presented the Mayor and the council with a signed copy of the New Answers Book 1. The five addresses were broadcast live on SermonAudio.com. MP3 files of the talks are still available for download on that site, as well as Paul's previous year?s talks in Hillsborough and Lisburn.

Project: Ballymoney Bible Conference

Purpose: This is a major Bible week that takes place every year for young people (approx. 18-30, but also a lot of "older" young people!). AiG-UK are privileged to have been asked to run this conference this year. Paul Taylor will be delivering all 5 lectures to the delegates. The Bible conference takes place at Hebron Free Presbyterian Church in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, from 15 to 19 September 2008.

Specifics: This is a strategically important event that will see many young people trained for all kinds of ministry in Northern Ireland. Pray that they will leave the conference with a firm knowledge of the foundational importance of Genesis.

Deadline: September 19, 2008
