A Year in Review: The AiG Ministry in 2022

So much has happened over the course of 2022 that it would be impossible to share everything with you, but here are some highlights from our various ministries and outreaches over the past year.

Speaking Powerfully to the Issue of the Year

But perhaps the most noteworthy event happened on June 24 when the horrible Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 was overturned, turning the decision regarding abortion back to the individual states (a move that has already saved many lives!).

From a societal standpoint, 2022 has been quite the year. But perhaps the most noteworthy event happened on June 24 when the horrible Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 was overturned, turning the decision regarding abortion back to the individual states (a move that has already saved many lives!). Many Christians rightly praised the Lord for this momentous victory—and then got to work taking care of moms, dads, and babies; lobbying their representatives to make abortion illegal in their state; and having hard, but important, conversations with family, friends, and coworkers about abortion and related issues.

Now, AiG has always been a pro-life ministry with a passion for the “least of these,” unborn babies made in God’s image, who are at risk of being killed. So, over the years, we’ve released many articles, presentations, resources, and even a stunning exhibit at the Creation Museum. And this year, in light of the conversations swirling around Roe v. Wade, we ramped it up with several very popular series tackling sanctity of life issues.

• Prenatal Development: Life of an Unborn Baby. In early 2022, we knew the Roe v. Wade decision would be revisited sometime in 2022, so we ended last year and began this year with a fascinating series on the development of an unborn child from fertilization through birth. Along the way, we tackled common pro-abortion arguments and pointed readers toward the hope of the gospel. This series was so popular, we translated it for our Spanish site!
• Answering Abortion Arguments. In the spring, as the conversation regarding abortion ramped up and many pro-abortion memes and social media posts flooded the internet, we began a series responding to many of these. The goal of this series was to help Christians better articulate a biblical worldview regarding the unborn and to clear up any confusion these pro-abortion arguments may have caused. We hope this series was helpful to you!

Our YouTube Channel Explodes

This year our content team has been working hard to grow our YouTube channel so we can reach even more people with the message of biblical authority and the gospel of Jesus Christ. And it’s working! We’re excited that our Answers in Genesis YouTube channel now has over 400,000 subscribers! That’s significant growth compared to last year, and that means more people than ever have been exposed to our teaching.

And what are our 400,000 subscribers watching? Well, these were the top five videos on our YouTube channel this year:

All Our Major Conferences Were the Best Yet

People were so excited for rock-solid answers from God’s Word.

This year we hosted our annual Answers for Women, Answers for Pastors, Deaf Days, and Día Latino—and each of these events was our best yet! We had record attendance and the excitement at each event was palpable. People were so excited for rock-solid answers from God’s Word. So excited, in fact, that our Answers for Women 2023 event to be held in the spring sold out a long time ago and has a long waiting list.

We also hosted a brand-new event, our Answers Homeschool Experience. This event sold out—twice!—and was a smashing success! Families loved the in-depth teaching, special guests, hands-on breakout sessions, and family memories. We can’t wait for next year’s event (registration coming soon).

Many Expansions and Upgrades Completed

Last year we were fundraising for some needed expansions and upgrades to both the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. Well, thanks to your generosity, we were able to begin those projects fully funded (praise the Lord!). And this year we were able to complete the Legacy Hall upgrade, open our new Welcome Center at the Creation Museum, begin the work on our new Eden Teaching Center and Zoo, and begin designing the scale model of first-century Jerusalem.

We’re so thankful that Legacy Hall is now refurbished. The upgraded enlarged space has been such an incredible blessing to our guests, as has the beautiful new Welcome Center out in the parking lot. We can’t wait for the Eden Teaching Center construction to be completed and for the Jerusalem model to open.

In this exciting video, attractions content manager Tim Chaffey and art director Travis Wilson share some sneak peeks of the Jerusalem model, currently in the research phase:

Before we can finish the Jerusalem model, we need a building to house this massive (one of the largest in the world) exhibit. We also need a welcome center and shuttle bus drop-off area down at the Ark. So we’re combining both needs into one and constructing a beautiful new building that will house the new exhibit and also serve as a welcome center. We’re currently fundraising for this project, and every gift is matched dollar-for-dollar up to $8.5 million, now through the end of 2022.

As our founder and CEO, Ken Ham, has always said, this is God’s ministry—we’re all just so thankful we get to be part of it and that the Lord chooses to use us to proclaim the message of biblical authority and the gospel, all for his glory.

Praise the Lord for all he did in 2022! We’re excited to see what he does in 2023.
