Do You Know Who Said This?

Do you know who said this? “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future!”

It sounds like something a modern-day atheist might say. You see, the line reminds me of the time 285 atheists visited our Creation Museum in 2009! One of them later wrote, “For me, the most frightening part was the children’s section. It was at this moment that I learned the deepest lesson of my visit to the Museum.”

He went on to say, “It is in the minds and hearts of our children that the battle will be fought!”

Now, who wrote, “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future”? It was Adolf Hitler! And remember, he was able to capture the culture!

Secular humanists in America totally grasp the concept that if they are able to “own the youth,” they will “gain the future.” Because of secular influences that press on our societies, God, through His Word, has instructed parents over and over again to train their children (e.g., Deuteronomy 6:7).

Sadly, many parents don’t understand that the atheists and other secularists are out to capture the hearts and minds of generations of children—and unfortunately they aren’t aware that the secularists have been very successful in our schools, media, museums, etc.

Yes, the children of this nation are under a fierce attack by secularists.

We’ve already seen the horrible results of this attack. For example, we show in our book Already Gone that two-thirds of children from church homes are walking away from the church by the time they reach college age (and only a few return).

As I have shared with you before, America will end up like England if this tragic trend continues. In England, we see the sad consequences of this massive attack on the Bible (often through evolution) as two-thirds of young people in that country say they don’t believe in God.

Each year at AiG, we develop a special theme that we apply across the ministry’s multiple outreaches. As we were discussing the theme for the next year, something happened that we believe the Lord used to direct us to create a new, vital thrust and theme for the entire ministry.

At the end of August, Bill Nye the “Science Guy” of PBS TV and Disney released a video on YouTube titled “Creationism is not appropriate for children.” It received about five million views because it was publicized by the world’s major media. Towards the end of this anti-creationist video, Bill Nye said the following:

And I say to the grownups, if you want to deny evolution and live in your world, in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that’s fine, but don’t make your kids do it because we need them. We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need people that can—we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems.

Of course, what Bill Nye claims about the importance of teaching evolution to kids—that if we don’t we won’t have engineers, scientists, etc.—is ludicrous. More than that, Nye wants your children to be taught atheistic evolution as fact. Remember, Bill Nye was given the “Humanist of the year” award in 2010.

Just a few weeks later, atheist Richard Dawkins was on CNN and made the following claims:

You can’t even begin to understand biology, you can’t understand life, unless you understand what it’s all there for, how it arose—and that means evolution. So I would teach evolution very early in childhood … I think it needs serious attention, that children should be taught where they come from, what life is all about, how it started, why it’s there, why there’s such diversity of it, why it looks designed.

These are all things that can easily be explained to a pretty young child. I’d start at the age of about 7 or 8. There’s only one game in town as far as serious science is concerned … No serious scientist doubts that we are cousins of gorillas, we are cousins of monkeys, we are cousins of snails, we are cousins of earthworms. We have shared ancestors with all animals and all plants. There is no serious scientist who doubts that evolution is a fact.

In recent times, we have also seen an increase in the number of atheists who accuse AiG of forms of “child abuse” because we teach kids to believe God’s Word in Genesis.

The atheists have become more aggressive than ever. They have a zeal to capture the hearts and minds of your children. They want to own the culture.

These atheists and secularists have already been very successful in using the public school system to win children over to their side. Think about it, they have been successful in throwing out Creation, the Bible, prayer, and the Christian God from the public school system. Today, millions of kids are taught evolution as fact, just as Dawkins wants.

There is so much more I could share with you about how the secular humanists are becoming more aggressive in trying to get your kids.

Remember, God’s Word says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalms 127:3). They are a gift from the Lord and are entrusted to us to train them up for Him—for their eternal ministries.

Please join AiG in doing all we can to reach these children and teens with the truth of God’s Word and the gospel most of all. They need to be equipped with the armor of God so they can fight off the “fiery darts” of the Wicked One who is out to entrap them.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:13–17)

Because of this urgent need to reach and equip the next generation before they become “already gone” statistics, the AiG leadership, working with our consultants, came up with what we believe is a powerful theme for the ministry for the next two years.

It is based on Galatians 1:4, where we read of Jesus Christ, “who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.

For the sake of the gospel, the church faces an urgent task. We must rescue people from this “evil age.” Aware of this urgency, Satan is also after the minds of this current generation. His tactic is to deceive our youth into believing lies that discredit the Bible’s authority and accuracy, from which we get this gospel message.

As a result, we came up with this theme for next year.

  • Standing our Ground.
  • Rescuing our Kids. (Galatians 1:4)

The true rescue from this evil world can only come through the gospel of Christ. The attack on the Bible from the ideas of evolution and millions of years is causing doubt about the Bible, and the message of the gospel is thus undermined.

If your heart is filled with the same urgency as mine to see future generations rescued from the coming judgment of this world, we must rescue them from humanism—a worldview that is leading millions of people to reject the gospel, with eternal consequences.

There is no greater urgency today than to “stand our ground and rescue our children.”

With this theme for the AiG ministry, we will be focusing on helping parents and churches capture their kids for the Lord Jesus Christ! Yes, their eternity is at stake.

As a ministry focused on creation and the gospel, we are employing the following resources:

  1. We are building a new interactive bug exhibit at the Creation Museum. Kids and parents will love this world-class insect display!
  2. We are producing new children’s books and DVDs. My new book The True Account of Adam and Eve has already been released, and it is teaching kids to believe in a literal Genesis.
  3. We are starting a special billboard campaign to “stand our ground.”
  4. We are holding additional unique children’s programs at the Creation Museum.
  5. We are offering special ticket discounts for kids and grandkids to the Creation Museum.
  6. We are establishing partnerships with like-minded Christian organizations, especially those who reach children with the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.

And there are so many more exciting outreaches and resources in the works.

But these evangelistic and equipping outreaches cannot happen unless God’s people support us with prayers and their gifts. What a phenomenal opportunity the Lord has given us all to counter the attacks of the Enemy!

It’s an even more urgent task than ever to counter the secularists. Together, we must reach children and teens with the truths of Genesis, equipping them to defend the Bible against the onslaughts of evolutionary indoctrination in schools and the media.

Please join me in this vital battle in an intense spiritual war. This struggle began in Genesis, when the question was asked, “Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1).

Help us reach the children of America with the message that “God really did say,” and teach them the life-changing truths found in God’s Word.

Thank you for your generosity as we stand our ground and rescue our kids!
