A recent study of rocks from my homeland of Australia argues the following: algae were necessary for the evolution of almost everything.

They claim that 650 million years ago, the conditions were perfect for algae to bloom. Now, this bloom allowed complex life forms to arise, eventually, so the story goes, giving rise to humans.

So, I guess we really have algae to thank for our existence!

Of course, they don’t explain where all the information came from to form complex life, including us! There’s no known scientific process that can add brand-new genetic information necessary for evolution. So, their idea is well dead in the water.
