We’ve all heard the story.
On the Galapagos islands, Charles Darwin noticed small variations within finches. Some of these birds had larger beaks for cracking open seeds. Others had smaller beaks for eating insects. He then mused that those small changes between species could add up to big changes between kinds. We recognize, that of course, as the idea of evolution.
But has two hundred years of research confirmed Darwin’s ideas? Well, we now know that the genetic variability for various beak sizes already exists within the finch kind. Nothing new has been created on the Galapagos, without new genetic information, evolution, well, it’s impossible.
