Now, opals can form very quickly. In the lab, they grow in just a few weeks—and are often identical to “real” opals. And those “real” ones were formed because of the unique conditions during the global flood of Noah’s day. The massive amounts of sediment, volcanic eruptions, and rapid lifting of wet rock layers created the perfect conditions to form opals specifically in one massive area of Australia.

These gems didn’t take millions of years to form. They formed quickly just a few thousand years ago.
